Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen has announced that a ceasefire will begin at 09:00 GMT (12:00pm local time) following a request by President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, while retaining the right to respond to any breach.
Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported that a statement issued by the General Command of the Coalition Forces said that Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi sent a message to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, informing the leadership of the coalition that the Yemeni government has decided to declare a 7-day ceasefire. "The ceasefire will last for a period of seven days from December 15-21 in conjunction with the launch of consultations, and will be renewed automatically in the event of the commitment of the other party," the statement said.
