Islamabad — A prayer leader believed to be a suspected militant was killed when he blew up his suicide vest in a mosque, in Charsadda near Peshawar, leaving four people injured on Friday night, police said.
Station House Officer Shabqadar Walayat Shah said that acting on information about the presence of a suspect in Saro Klay the police cordoned off the area. When police spotted the suspect and tried to capture him he ran into the mosque where isha (nightfall) prayer was in progress and blew himself up, he added.
The SHO said the man was later identified as Qari Naeem, the prayer leader at the mosque.
