Pakistan's Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who had earlier this month tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus, has recovered and tested negative.

Sheikh Rashid had on June 8 tweeted that he had been tested positive. He had been asymptomatic and had self-isolated himself at his house.

On Thursday, the minister tweeted out his latest test results, which indicated that he was no longer infected.

As of June 25, Pakistan has recorded 192,970 Covid-19 infections, ranking 13th in the list of countries with most cases. The country has seen 81,307 recoveries, and has 107,760 active cases so far. Total deaths from the infection stand at 3,903.

Earlier today, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the people to follow the standard operating procedures in letter and spirit to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Talking to volunteers of Corona Relief Tiger Force at the PM Office, the prime minister said that it was essential to making common people understand the importance of following precautionary measures.

The prime minister said that if the people did not follow the SOPs seriously it would increase the burden on hospitals and existing health facilities.

He said the next one month was crucial and "if we are able to convince people to adopt maximum precautionary measures, the peak of the disease can pass".

The prime minister said the administration was already stretched to their limits and the government did not want to put additional pressure on them.
