Oman road crashes killed 70 in January

MUSCAT - Traffic accidents claimed the lives of as many as 70 people in Oman in January, according to new statistics released by the Royal Oman Police (ROP). A further 956 were injured.

The highest number of fatalities — 12 — was reported from the Northern Batinah governorate, followed by Northern Sharqiyah (10) and Dhofar and Southern Batinah (9 each).

The worst accident occurred in the wilayat of Ibra, Northern Sharqiyah — a head-on collision between two vehicles that killed four people.
