Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Rs130 billion, first-ever project in Asia to address the problems of climate change, said the the park was expected to decrease the carbon dioxide emissions by 800,000 million tonnes.
The park proposes to generate solar energy for 330 days a year, amounting to 5.5 to 6.0 KW per square-kilometre solar radiation daily. The state government has agreed to buy 933 MW power under its new solar power policy.
Gujarat government spokesman J N Vyas told Khaleej Times that plots would be given to the energy developers on a 30-year lease and facilities like water, electricity, roads, rainwater drainage, power transmission facility and others would be extended.
