Gromaxx Hotels Management LLC, a conglomerate of hotels, hotel apartments, real estate and construction business and more, is among the trusted names in the hospitality business in the UAE. Formed under the patronage of Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the group has franchised with international hotel companies.
It has a formidable presence with 13 properties, some in collaboration with Wyndham Hotels Group, such as Ramada Hotel, Tryp Hotel, Howard Johnson Hotels and Hawthorn Suites. The group operates 11 properties in Abu Dhabi, and one each in Dubai and Fujairah.
Besides this, the group also operates a number of ancillary companies that provide support to the core business. These include Sparkle Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Oasis Spectrum Real Estate, Phoenix for Hotel Supplies and Trading, and Phoenix Decoration.
"I came to the UAE in 1980, and started real estate management and construction business. In about two years, I opened my first restaurant and since then, we have flourished tremendously in the hospitality space. We now have a diversified business including a state-of-the-art industrial laundry and dry cleaning unit called Sparkle Laundry, and many other property-related establishments," says Mohammad Abdul Saleem, a soft-spoken and an enterprising business tycoon, who chairs the Gromaxx Hotels Management LLC.
Saleem has been a tower of strength for the people around him and the hospitality business. In just two decades, he has established a behemoth empire with interests in various sectors.
In the hospitality space, Saleem's first venture was a hotel apartment called Al Hamra Plaza launched in Abu Dhabi in 1994 in partnership with Shaikh Musallam Salem Musallam bin Ham Al Ameri. His steadfast insistence on quality and a customer-centric approach fuelled the rise of his company. In the UAE, some of the popular names operating under the group include Ramada Corniche, Howard Johnson Hotel, Ramada Down Town Hotel, Tryp by Wydham, Hawthorn Hotel Suites, Emirates Plaza Hotel in Abu Dhabi, as well as a number of hotel apartments, including Eclipse Hotel Apartments, Ivory Hotel Apartments, Phoenix Plaza Hotel Apartments, and Downtown Plaza Hotel Apartments. All these hotels have fine dining restaurants and prestigious clubs of national and international reputation.
In the last few years, the group has grown at more than 30 per cent compounded annual growth rate (CAGR). "The past two years have been exceptionally good for us. We are now looking to venture into Morocco with some of our partners. At home, we are planning a few resorts in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain," says Saleem.
The group has successfully tapped into the vast potential of the hospitality space in the emirates and built a formidable name.
On the Pakistan's Resolution Day, Saleem says he is happy to see his country grow and wishes the same in the coming years.
