Bahrain's jobless rate kept at 3.1%

Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said that Bahrain has a strong vital economy capable of creating attractive job opportunities.

Bahrain registered unemployment stood at 3.1 per cent by the end of the third quarter (compared with 3.6 per cent in September 2014). Unemployment has dropped from 3.3 per cent to 3.1 per cent from June to September as a result of the substantial decrease in the number of jobless, on the one hand, and the steady increase in hiring, on the other.
Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said that Bahrain has a strong vital economy capable of creating attractive job opportunities for its citizens.
He said Bahrain has maintained the rate of unemployment within internationally familiar safe low limits.
The minister was speaking on the occasion of issuance of the 2015 third-quarterly statistical data report detailing jobless citizens eligible to compensation and job vacancies for the months of July, August and September approved by the Cabinet during this week's meeting.
Humaidan said latest labour market indices indicate stable, improved vital rates achieved over the said period which reflect the efforts exerted by the government and private sector establishments aimed to qualify, train and hire national workforce in suitable jobs.
Bahraini-Indian cultural relations underlined
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, accompanied with the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Alok Kumar Sinha, paid last week a visit to the construction site of the Little India project to get themseleves apprised of the work progress there.
The Little India project at Manama Market will open to the public in December coinciding with Bahrain's national days celebrations.
The Baca president said that the Little India project will accentuates the Indian humanitarian legacy, which is a vital segment of Bahrain's social fabric. It will also play a key role in enhancing Bahraini-Indian relations.
The Indian ambassador lauded Baca President's role in promoting Bahraini-Indian relations.
Bahrain free from cholera, reaffirms health ministry official
The Director of Public Health in the Ministry of Health, Dr Mariam Al Hajeri, has reaffirmed that Bahrain is free from any registered or known case of cholera in the hospitals and health cenres.
Dr Hajeri said that in view of the large number of Bahrainis currently travelling to Iraq, the ministry has set up a comprehensive contingency plan. She advised travelers to be cautious not to carry the disease as they come back to Bahrain. All diagnostic equipment and medical supplies are available, she assured.
The ministry has been in touch with the Jaffariya Awqaf Directorate to increase public awareness and publicise preventative instructions. There is coordination with all land, air and maritime exit/entry points in the Kingdom to block foodstuffs and fluids brought by arrivals from Iraq because polluted foodstuffs and fluids are believed to be the main cause of spreading the disease. she said.
