When I was young, I'd heard about a book called Stiletto, where a serial killer used pointy, high heels as his weapon of mass destruction. I obviously notched up an immediate bias against stilettos. As time went by, however, I did get into the habit of wearing high heels (I especially liked it when my 5'3" frame would be given a fillip, and I'd be standing tall at 5'7"); I enjoyed my heels, although I would receive a lot of unsolicited advice on how I was playing with foot health. So far, I haven't suffered any high-heeled setbacks. probably because I have greatly whittled down my high heel usage. It's perhaps been a subconscious pre-emptive strike, since more and more ladies of a certain vintage are kicking high heels out of their closets because they are getting in the way (case in point: Victoria Beckham, the posh one, who recently swore off spiked footwear). Get the lowdown in this week's feature.
I haven't watched Fan, but, by all accounts, it's one of SRK's best works so far - with a certain noir component to it (supposedly). It's a bleak look at showbiz, where things are mostly never what they seem to be. Now, there's another question: is this a way of stars trying to promote themselves, by self-starring in a film titled Fan? I don't think so, but let's hear it from our Bollywood inside man.
