Scape Restaurant's latest "art de vivre" concept infused with Mediterranean flavours lives up to the grandeur that Burj Al Arab is globally known for. Set on a terrace that extends into the Arabian Gulf at the world's most iconic seven-star hotel, the restaurant boasts stunning ocean views that are bound to impress you.
It will also treat you to an evening of unpretentious luxury, which is probably the most apt way to describe our dining experience. With quality ingredients and dishes complemented by courteous and approachable staff in a relaxed ambience, Scape is an ideal destination for those looking for a romantic escape, to mark a special occasion, or simply to pamper themselves once in a while. The staff was more than happy to make our experience memorable, which made a significant difference.
Quick notes: As security is tight, make sure you have your dining reservation number at hand for hassle-free access into Burj Al Arab premises. Dress code for men is casual during lunch, but smart casual with closed shoes for dinner.
TASTE
With a string of interesting concoctions, Scape manages to infuse the zesty vibes of summer into its dishes. The beetroot tartare topped with green mustard sorbet is tantalising, while the medium-cooked lamb chops drizzled in fragrant jus was power-packed with umami.
AMBIENCE
In addition to natural light, the tables are set up to let diners soak in an uninterrupted view of the sunset, whether sitting indoors or outdoors. Post-sunset, the venue transforms into a cosy atmosphere with soft music and a beautiful incandescence that set the tone for a romantic evening.
SERVICE
The servers do not have the stifling aura that dominates most luxury dining spots, which is what adds to the cosiness of the ambience. However, they do maintain a respectful distance and are alert so you don't have to pray for eye contact. They're also friendly and happy to converse.
PRESENTATION
The dishes were absolute eye candy. Our appetisers, main courses and dessert were a feast for the eyes; a colour bomb that tickled our senses just as much as our bellies. The plating did justice to the overall presentation, enhancing the delicate flavours of each dish.
VALUE FOR MONEY
Scape's new menu features salads and appetisers starting from Dh110, and main courses from Dh165. Given that you're dining on the terrace of a global landmark, the exclusivity, ambience and taste make it one of the best spots for a memorable night out.
