There's no dearth of quirky dining experiences in a city like Dubai. Whether you're looking to 'dine in the dark', under the stars or while floating at sea, there are plenty of places that can take a culinary experience to a whole new level. But of course, few things beat dining in a skyscraper, where you get unprecedented views of the city. If you're looking for restaurants set in the tallest buildings, here's where you should go:
At.Mosphere
It's impossible to start a list of the highest restaurants without mentioning At.Mostphere. Located at the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, this isn't just the highest restaurant in Dubai, it's the highest in the world - and if you're a resident, a visit is a must. Just make sure you reserve a table well in advance (those by the windows cost more) if you want to tuck into their breakfast, lunch or dinner menus.
The Observatory
If you're looking for a restaurant with a sprawling view of Dubai Marina, The Observatory is the place to go. Located on the 52nd floor of Dubai Marriott Harbour & Suites, this fine dining establishment offers a truly intimate setting, with dim golden lighting, and a gorgeous view of Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah for a surprisingly affordable cost. You can actually get away with a meal for two under Dh500.
Level 43 Sky Lounge
Looking for a more casual place with friends? Check out Level 43 located on the (you guessed it!) 43rd floor of Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road. The best part about being here is undoubtedly dining amongst skyscrapers while staring at the mesmerising view of cars moving on Sheikh Zayed Road down below. Order starters, nab a table with a view, and simply relax.
40 Kong
Located not too far away from Level 43 Sky Lounge is 40 Kong, a rooftop lounge that serves Chinese and Japanese bites while offering diners glittering views of the city's skyline. Take in their view from the 40th floor of The H Dubai as you enjoy a selection of starters, salads, meats and desserts.
Jaan at the Penthouse
Indian molecular gastronomy restaurant Jaan at the Penthouse has been making waves with its unique fusion dishes (it even has a selection of Japanese delicacies!). And, being located on the 31st floor of Sofitel Dubai means there are some great photo opportunities as well. Our suggestion? If you're going in a group, call in advance to reserve their solitary table that offers a stunning view of the Burj Khalifa through ceiling-to-floor windows. You won't regret it.
