I’ve been experiencing severe hair loss over the past year; my hair is long, and I can’t leave it open because of this problem. Please suggest a way to use castor oil as a home remedy for hair fall.
— Shaza
Hair fall can be an acute problem. Try out a steaming treatment for your scalp at least twice a week. This should be followed by the application of an oil blend made by mixing one tsp castor oil, nine drops tea tree oil, six drops rosemary oil, and one tbsp extra virgin coconut or almond oil. Give yourself a good scalp massage and then wrap your hair in a towel. Leave this on overnight, or at least for a couple of hours, before washing it off.
Can you tell me if I can substitute mayonnaise for egg, when making a hair mask? Egg hair masks tend to leave behind a smell and I am reluctant to use them.
— Ayesha
Eggs are excellent for the hair, and a very effective hair mask can be made using 2 eggs, 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tsp of lemon juice and a tsp of olive oil — if you can bear the smell. If not, however, eggs here can easily be substituted with mayonnaise for an almost equally effective remedy.
I’m a 16-year-old girl with hair growth all over my face, especially on my upper lip. I believe this is also the reason for a lot of pimples on my face. I have a dark skin tone and, due to the hot climate, my skin is dry and rough. Please suggest a remedy that is quick as well as effective.
— Lameeza
To tackle your problems, make a thick mask using 1 tbsp aloe vera gel, 1 tsp corn flour, ½ tsp limejuice, ½ tsp rice flour and apply this onto your face. When it dries, first moisten the mask and then scrub against the hair growth. Rinse your face — first with warm water, followed by cold water. Do this every day and be sure to drink eight to 10 glasses of water daily!
I’m a 29-year-old woman. In my teens, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian syndrome (PCOS). I have two children now. After childbirth, my skin tone started becoming darker and fine hair growth appeared all over my face. There are also lines of darker hair under my nose and chin. Moreover, I have been suffering severe postpartum hair loss, and there is visible dandruff on my scalp. Please suggest effective remedies.

For your hair fall, mix one tbsp of yoghurt with one tbsp of lemon juice, and massage this into the scalp. Shampoo your hair after an hour.  Do this treatment three times a week. For your face, apply a paste made from coconut milk and oats powder. Rinse your face with cold water after it is dry. Use this face mask every day.
