I'm a 25-year-old man, and moved to the UAE seven months ago from my native India. Back home too, I had a little dandruff, but put it down to the pollution and dust there. However, the problem has worsened here, and the dandruff is too much now; it's especially embarrassing for me in social situations. Please suggest an effective remedy.
Take 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel, and beat 1 tablespoon yoghurt and a pinch of black pepper into it. Massage this mixture into the scalp. Shampoo hair after an hour. The dandruff will clear up and your hair will grow healthier. Aloe vera will oxygenate the scalp and cleanse it of the dandruff, while yoghurt conditions the scalp, and black pepper stimulates blood circulation.
I'm a 36-year-old mother of two. I have hypothyroidism and have been facing severe hair fall for the past four years, besides dandruff. My former thick and long hair is now thin and short. How can I improve my hair's condition?
First, I hope you are taking the daily medication for hypothyroidism. Three times a week, make the following mask to add nutrition to your scalp, arrest hair fall and dandruff, and get thicker and healthier hair. Take 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds, soak it in water and leave overnight to turn into paste. The next day, add half a cup coconut milk and 1 teaspoon lemon juice to it, and massage the mixture into the scalp. Leave in for two hours, then use a herbal shampoo. Done at least three times a week, this will readily solve your problem. Coconut milk is nourishing, fenugreek is an antioxidant, and lemon juice cleanses the scalp.
My 10-year-old son has a severe dandruff problem. I have tried many household remedies, but it keeps coming back in a day or two. I also noticed his hair glands do not produce any oil and his scalp is mostly dry.
Yoghurt has high anti-bacterial properties, besides moisturising and conditioning the scalp. Massage it into his scalp and shampoo after an hour. His scalp will be cleansed and the dandruff removed.
After my last pregnancy, I have been suffering from melasma on my cheeks. I've tried many treatments without any results. Please suggest a remedy.
Potato juice is an excellent skin lightener for melasma. Pat 1 teaspoon potato juice onto the dark patches and repeat several times a day. This will help lighten and brighten skin. Potato is rich in vitamin C and excellent for skin problems such as these.
It's very interesting to read your natural remedy tips every week. I am a 32-year-old woman, and don't use any make-up - practically nothing, except moisturiser and (occasionally) lip balm. I have a considerably darker forehead and lower chin area, compared to the rest of my face, as well as dark spots on my back, due to dryness and pigmentation. How can I get back an even skin tone on my face and body?
Take 1 tablespoon fresh potato juice, add 1 tablespoon coconut milk, blend well together, and apply on the entire face. You may even leave it on overnight, if preferred.
