The National Centre of Meteorology on Sunday warned UAE residents of rainfall and blowing dust, and urged the public to exercise caution.

"Convective, rainy clouds with fresh to strong winds with a speed of 60kmph, causing blowing dust with poor visibility at times over land, and causing the sea to be rough," it tweeted.

The alert is applicable from 3.30pm until 7pm, the weather bureau added.

The map shared on Twitter showed several areas highlighted in red, warning residents to "be extremely vigilant".

"Hazardous weather events of exceptional severity are forecast," the warning said.


Scattered thunderstorms and rains of different intensity lashed various parts of the country on Saturday, and continued on Sunday, with more expected till Wednesday.

The NCM has urged residents to brace for more rainfall, take precautions and comply with advisories issued by the authorities.
