A new road and parks have been closed in Sharjah after heavy dust storms engulfed parts of UAE on Sunday.
The Sharjah Municipality had to close down parks and gardens across the emirate due to the unstable weather conditions. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of the residents, the civic body said in a statement posted on its Instagram account.?
The municipality urged residents to report any complaints or observations on 993.

Sixteen traffic accidents were reported in Sharjah as a result of the dust storm that engulfed the country on Sunday. Several trees were uprooted, while signboards fell off due to the strong winds.
According to a top official, no casualties were recorded on the day.
Colonel Dr Ahmed Said Al Naour, Director-General of the Sharjah Police Central Operations Department, said the accidents were caused due to poor visibility, which dropped down to under 300 metres in some areas. One car flipped over in the Nezwa area.
Some accidents happened because of the accumulated sand on the roads. To ensure safety, the Sharjah Police had to temporarily close a new road in Al Hamriya, which leads from the Hamriyah Free Zone Bridge on Al Ittihad Street to the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road.
Col Dr Al Naour added that the police have deployed 15 patrols on the roads of the emirate to regulate and control the movement of vehicles. The police are also coordinating with the municipality to clear the accumulated sand on the roads.
Fishermen in Sharjah had to completely stop fishing on Sunday due to the unstable weather. They reportedly incurred financial losses due to damages their equipment suffered.
Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Ajman Civil Defence, urged the authorities concerned to properly fix all signboards that fell off. He called on parents to supervise their children.
