Uefa, the governing body for football in Europe, conducted the quarterfinal and draws for the Champions League and the Europa League on Friday with both competitions throwing up some mouth-watering clashes.
The Europa League, Uefa's second-tier competition raised the prospect of an all-English semifinal between Manchester United and the Wolves if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Nuno Espirito Santo's sides make it to the last four.
But the ceremony at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, was littered with technical glitches, not least a gaffe by former Bayern Munich defender Thomas Helmer.

With the Covid-19 pandemic still causing more than a headache for everyone around the world, the draw for the latter stages of the competitions was held with club delegates joining in remotely via a video stream.
Helmer was present along with Uefa secretary general Giorgio Marchetti and Pedro Pinto for the draw.
And while the Champions League draw was delayed by almost 20 minutes because of technical and audio issues, Helmer's comment was well and clearly audible and loud and left the governing body with embarrassment.
Moments before helping make the draw for the Europa League quarterfinals, Helmer called the Europa League as the "Cup of losers."
"Do you know what he calls it, no? The cup of losers...'
That forced Marchetti to turn away with embarrassment and let out a grin.
Wonder, what the clubs who are competing in the League, will have to say about this!
