Hailstones are coming down thick and hard as icy and heavy rains hit some parts of the UAE on Thursday. A video posted by weather-related social media handle Storm Centre showed a cracked car windshield and ice pellets falling on a flooded road in Fujairah.
Another video showed rainwater gush down a valley road in Khor Fakkan, and the heavy current bringing with it a garbage container.
Yet another shows a road flood suddenly as water flows off a mountain in Khor Fakkan. Two vehicles appear to have broken down in the tyre-deep water.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) posted videos showing waterfalls that have formed in Fujairah.
Residents were spotted scooping up ice and playing with it in some videos.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid areas prone to flash floods.
The NCM reported icy rains in Sharjah’s Dibba Al Hisn, Khor Fakkan and some parts of Fujairah.

The NCM also reported rains in Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman on Thursday.
The Met office has predicted more rainfall on Friday. The authority said earlier March is considered the last month of winter and temperatures would start increasing, “especially during the second half of the month”.
