As Emiratis and expatriates explored the UAE’s hidden gems as part of the World’s Coolest Winter campaign, a special set of air patrols kept them safe.

The UAE’s first domestic tourism campaign ended on Wednesday, January 27, registering 950,000 tourists and Dh1 billion in revenues. As residents scaled mountains and explored the country’s rich deserts, the UAE Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) helicopter patrols kept them safe.

The ministry posted a video on Wednesday, highlighting how the chopper patrols went about doing their jobs.

“The Air Wing Department conducts regular helicopter air patrols, (monitoring) land and coastal areas and gatherings as part of its efforts to achieve security and safety. Patrols ... intervened in cases that require rapid response and ensure ... traffic safety,” the MoI said.
