After the closure of Brussels airport on Wednesday following the terror attacks, Etihad Airways was forced to make arrangements to operate two of its flights through Dusseldorf, Germany.
Etihad Airways flights EY055, which was scheduled to depart Abu Dhabi for Brussels at 9:30am, flew to Dusseldorf instead. Transport between Dusseldorf and Brussels was provided by the airline.
The return flight - EY056 - left from Dusseldorf at 8:30pm local time and arrived in Abu Dhabi at 6:10am on Thursday.
Etihad, however, was unable to confirm ground transportation from Brussels to Dusseldorf because of the movement restrictions put in place. The airline is also offering rebooking options for those who have purchased tickets on or before March 22 for travel to Brussels until March 29.
Additionally, Emirates airlines' Wednesday flights to and from Brussels were cancelled but were scheduled to go ahead on Thursday.
