Everything from fashion shows, free stuff, stage performances and of course great deals. Here are our recommendations of what you can do this weekend.
At one with fashion
Boulevard One is launching its biggest ever edition of the Festive Boutique on October 6 and 7. Celebrating its 13th edition, Boulevard One has over 50 top Pakistani, Indian and international designers to showcase. This season's two-day exhibition will answer all your fashion needs; from pretty luxury wear, jewellery to homewares, handbags and shoes. It's a festive boutique especially catering for the upcoming Diwali season and weddings and is on at The Royal Ballroom, Palace Downtown Dubai from 3pm to 10pm on Friday and 10am to 7pm on Saturday.
Win, win, win
My City Centre Nasseriya in Sharjah has an exciting Digital Sling-shot game. If you take part, you'll be given touchscreen-enabled digital slingshots that you must aim at a screen. Hit three logos of the same brand in 60 seconds and you will walk away with instant prizes. There's also a Golden Buzz Wire game at Matajer Al Juraina. We'll be giving all of it a go tomorrow.
The sound of Dubai
'Amazing Dubai', the first-ever musical in English about Dubai, is on at the Madinat Theatre. Featuring multi-national UAE based talent, the show is a spectacular telling of the emirate's journey from a small fishing community to one of the most modern metropolises in the world. The hour-long musical is now being performed twice a day, year-round, but try to get in quick.
See gold, lots of gold
DIFC's Opera Gallery will be displaying a carefully curated selection of works from more than 25 international artists. The 'Gold' exhibition showcases the precious metal in various forms, including some works by famed surrealist Salvador Dali.
Free sweet treats at City Walk
Who doesn't like free stuff? For the whole of October, Eggspectation in Dubai's City Walk is giving away free s'mores. Don't know what it is? To the uninitiated, s'mores is a brioche stuffed with Nutellla and marshmallows. It's drizzled with maple syrup and chocolate sauce. You can grab it for free by going to Eggspectation's Facebook page, taking a photo of the promotion and simply showing it at the City Walk branch.
Get something for a bargain
Dubai Flea Market is back this Saturday, taking place every first Friday or Saturday of every month, the flea market is the place to be if you're looking for pre-loved clothing, furniture and even books. The sweet thing about it is that some items can be bought for as little as Dh10.
Enjoy an open sports day
There will be an open day in the Els Club in Dubai Sports City to celebrate the start of the news season. Fun activities will be available for the whole family to enjoy. One can also try out some live golf experiences with the Butch Harmon School of Golf.
Welcome Madison
DJ Madison Mars is in town to help celebrate BOA club's first anniversary tonight. Famous for the song, Theme O, the mix master will be spinning his hits to a no-doubt packed dance floor. Get there early or book in advance is our advice
MK this spot
Taking place every Friday, Ritual night at Zero Gravity is a new gathering launching tomorrow with international DJ MK. The renowned DJ, who is currently on tour with his Area10 warm up sessions, is on at Zero Gravity from 9pm. A great post-brunch session?
it's all in the soul
Need to get some more soul in your life? Then The Irish Village has the quintessential line up for you to do just that! Soul Jam tonight includes an array of critically acclaimed soul, jazz and R&B artists; Alexander O'Neal, Omar, Jaki Graham and Mica Paris. They will bring the house down with their power and performances, so don't you miss out. Tickets: Dhs175.
