Smoke covers skies as massive blazes hit Sharjah and Ajman

Ajman/Sharjah - Two warehouses went up in flames in Ajman and Sharjah on Friday.

Fire brigades in Sharjah and Ajman contained two massive blazes in the industrial areas of the Emirates on Friday.
A warehouse that stored wood and cardboard was engulfed by a fire in Ajman new industrial area while a warehouse with flammable materials gutted in Sharjah Industrial Area 6. No casualties were reported during the accidents.
Sami Al Naqbi, director-general of the Sharjah Civil Defence, said they received an alert at 3.45pm about the fire in a warehouse that stored flammable materials. All fire stations in the emirate were dispatched to the site.
Brig Rashid Muglad, deputy director of the Ajman Civil Defence, said firefighters managed to control and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent warehouses.
He added that the firefighting that mission began at 4.30pm was completed by 7pm and cooling operations are in progress.
He urged the owners of the warehouse owners to follow the fire prevention and safety regulations and maintain electricity connections, fire alarms and store all materials in safe environments.
