On Monday, the Ministry of Education announced two hours reduction in public school hours on Tuesday to allow students to watch the Asian Cup 2019 semi-final football match between UAE and Qatar.
It was followed by a series of tweets by The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge instructing private schools to reduce the schooling hours to support the national team. ADEK issued an advisory ensuring teachers, administrative staff and supervisors stay in the school campuses until all students leave.

Today, Sharjah's Private Schools Council issued a circular regarding the reduction of school hours on Tuesday.
According to the release, private schools are allowed to dismiss their students two hours earlier on the occasion of the AFC match.
