An e-handbook spelling out safety guidelines as people stay in the confines of their homes has been launched by the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority (SPSA). The e-handbook - Safety At Home - aims to highlight the precautions and steps families should take in various locations indoors, especially the kitchen.
Abdalla Almajedi, acting director of Salama Preventive Training Institute at SPSA, said the e-handbook has been launched at this time as families are committed to staying home as part of the county's prevention measures to check spread of coronavirus. "It aims to contribute in promoting safety behaviours among the family members, while they are all staying in the house with limited movement," he pointed out. "Home is a place where one finds comfort and peace, but it can also house various sources of hazards; so this handbook contains a set of guidelines that would ensure public safety indoors," he added. He called on the families, especially housewives and domestic helpers, to follow the prevention procedures.
The SPSA is also about to roll out a number of new brochures dealing with prevention in educational, residential, commercial and hotel facilities, in addition to the safety manual in the health establishments. "We are also working on training domestic helpers and housewives remotely and equip them to better deal with lurking dangers, in order to ensure safety of all family members," he said.
