The motorist was driving on the Emirates Road from Sharjah to Umm Al Quwain at 12.30pm on Sunday when his cruise control malfunctioned. The driver immediately called Sharjah Police, who dispatched patrol vehicles to assist the driver.
The patrol vehicles cleared the road ahead of the motorist, and instructed the driver to check his seatbelt and then gently bump into the police patrol vehicle in front of him until he came to a stop.
The police official in the patrol vehicle directly in front of the distressed driver matched his speed with that of the car, and came to a gentle halt once the two vehicles had made contact. The driver was not injured.
Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shareef, Director General of Human Resources and Support Services at Sharjah Police said that Sharjah Police was keen to spread, strengthen and consolidate the values of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
"We are seeking to make the police loved by young people, respected by the adults, but feared by criminals and outlaws who threaten the security of society," he added.
