Following complaints about the disturbance and noisy construction during the night from the residents, the Sharjah Municipality has issued an administrative order to ban construction activity from 10pm to 6am.

Speaking to Khaleej times, Abdullah Shuwaikh, spokesman of the municipality, said that the order excluded construction work in buildings located in none-residential areas. But companies will be permitted to carry out the construction work only after obtaining permission from the municipality.

The technical affairs inspectors will be in charge of monitoring the on-going massive construction work in residential areas to ensure contracting companies are abiding by the new regulations.

"The violating companies will face tough penalties, including hefty fines that will be doubled in case of repetition of the violation. The companies violating the orders will face complete closure of the business," he stressed.

The municipality will give permission to the companies who only intend to pour concrete at night but they will have to ensure that there will be no noise or disturbance.

Al Shuwaikh urged members of the public to call 993 to inform about any disturbances and noise due to construction at night to help the municipality send its inspectors to impose fines on the violating companies.
