Senior citizens finish the Dubai Run in a wheelchair

The Dubai Run on Friday was not only a celebration for the young and energetic, but also for two elderly women.
Kusum Bhargava, an 86-year-old Indian woman, was probably the oldest participant in the run. "It was a great experience. I met so many people," an enthusiastic Bhargava told Khaleej Times.
She completed the 5km run on her wheelchair. "So many people came and took photos with me. I completed the 5km distance and all the credit goes to my daughter-in-law," she added.
Eiswari Amma, 78-year-old Sharjah resident from India, also made history in Dubai for being one of the oldest participants. She came along with her sons, daughters-in-law and her grandchildren to take part in the 5km run. Her family pushed her on a wheelchair, all the way from start to completion.
After completing the race, Eiswari Amma told Khaleej Times: "My son would always take us to Dubai and show us the Sheikh Zayed Road lined with beautiful buildings. Today, when we were actually on the road on foot, it was truly amazing."
She added: "I couldn't help but marvel the architecture of the amazing buildings, especially the upcoming Museum of the Future. This is an amazing initiative where not only we get to enjoy fitness activities with our families, but we also got to see so many people of different nationalities. I have never experienced such a multi-cultural gathering before. It was absolutely wonderful."
