School road repainted, remarked in Sharjah

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has started repainting and re-marking the school road at the Muweilah area to ensure smooth traffic flow in preparation for the reopening of schools after the summer break, The one-month development work began from Al Falah roundabout to the end of the road in the direction of schools there, according to a senior official.
Eng Sulaiman Al Hajiri, Director, RTA Sharjah for Roads Affairs, said the arterial road is always filled with school buses during the academic year. "The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority started the job at the right time before the new academic year."
The authority, taking into consideration the special nature of the nearby Sharjah-Dhaid road which connects Dhaid city with the eastern areas of the emirate, worked on the roads for six hours each day.
"We repainted and re-marked the area between the third and fifth bridges in both directions from 12 midnight to 6am, and these works are expected to be completed by mid next month."
Eng Al Hajiri urged drivers to be cautious on the road, take alternative roads, and observe the speed limit mainly at work sites to ensure road users' safety and avoid the rush.
He said the maintenance work is in pursuance to the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Cross safely, urge Sharjah Police
sharjah - The Sharjah Police have launched a new campaign to educate pedestrians about the importance of crossing roads from designated areas.
The two-week campaign, titled 'Cross the road safely,' aims to reduce the number of run-over accidents. Awareness pamphlets in Arabic, English and Urdu will be distributed among pedestrians as part of the campaign.
