Roads cleared of rainwater, pleasant weekend ahead in UAE

Following the torrential rain that battered the UAE on Wednesday, water logging in most residential and commercial areas across the country have receded. The heavy rainfall had shut down roads in Umm Al Quwain and slowed down traffic to a crawl in Sharjah.
However, by Thursday morning, most of the roads were cleared of rain water, and UAE residents are well on their way to enjoy a pleasant weather this weekend.
A top official with the Sharjah Police said: "We increased the deployment of patrols and police officers because of the massive traffic congestion in Sharjah on Wednesday and to support the Sharjah Municipality officers as well. A total of 89 road accidents were reported. However, on Thursday, there were only small and minor accidents."
Water logging in residential parking areas in Al Qasimia area, Al Nasariya, Mysaloon and the industrial areas has been completely cleared. A total of 80 tanks and 160 mobile pumps were distributed in various parts of the city.
Perfect picnic weather
According to the National Centre of Meteorology weather report, on Friday, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy in general and some clouds will appear at times, especially over sea and some eastern and western areas with a probability of some light rain. The report added: "There will be moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, especially with clouds, with a speed of 20-30kmph, reaching up to 40kmph at times. Sea will be moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea,"
The weather is expected to continue to be pleasant on Saturday. The report said: "There will be fair to partly cloudy weather in general. Some clouds will appear, especially over the sea and some eastern and western areas with a probability of some light rainfall."
Temperatures in coastal and island areas are expected to be at maximum of 24 to 28-degree Celsius to a minimum of 16 to 22 degrees Celsius. Internal weather is expected to be at maximum of 25-29 degrees and a minimum of 14-18 degrees Celsius. Internal humidity will be at 65 to 80 per cent. The pleasant weather conditions are perfect for picnics and outdoor activities, said some residents who are planning their weekend in the beach or a drive to Jebel Jais mountains.
