The department of public works and services in Ras Al Khaimah has founded a new division called 'happy environment' - the first of its kind in both government and private sectors across the country.
The new division falls under the control section of the public services department, according to Ahmed Al Hammadi, director-general of the public works and services department.
"The 'happy environment' division is in pursuance of the directives of the UAE's prudent leadership to bring happiness to the public by all possible means, with extra focus on the work environment."
Ahmed Hamad Al Shehi, manager of the public services department, said the new division will develop environmental awareness of the public in a friendly way. "Advice and guidelines will be provided in a variety of ways to encourage them to protect and preserve the environment."
The cultural campaign will cover schools, colleges, universities and shopping centres in the emirate. "Many other locations will be considered as well."
The department has also launched a new division for monitoring tourist sites of the emirate, Al Hammadi disclosed. "All the 'Raqib' patrols and environment inspections will come under this division." Six main tourist sites here will be monitored by this new division.
