Passengers at the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport need not to worry anymore about long queues to check in or out with a promising smart system introduced here
According to a top officer, the 'Smart Travel' system inaugurated on Tuesday will make travelling much faster, easier and more convenient particularly as it significantly cuts the time needed for check in and out from 40 minutes to only five seconds.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, said the passengers travelling through the RAK International Airport may now personally check in or out while waiting for their boarding passes.

"Al passengers, personally checking in or out at too many self-register machines in, can simply head to the e-gate to finish their travel procedures with no need to pass by the immigration officers as usual."
The automatic 'Smart Travel' system instantly and quickly verifies the passengers' data and efficiently identify the face features, and biometric information needed for boarding, he added.
"Such self-registration process may take maximum five seconds, following which the passengers can simply go for boarding with no need to stand or wait in a long queue."
The entire procedure from the registration process to the boarding pass collection may take maximum 20 seconds, Maj-Gen Nuaimi underlined. "Such a quantum leap will speed up the arrival and departure procedure at the airport which is expected to see more passengers in the coming period."
Brigadier Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director of the Directorate General of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ras Al Khaimah, said the new system is in line with the strategy of the interior ministry to give a more convenient travel experience to all passengers, and cope with the growing numbers of travellers.
"The RAK police and immigration department here spare no effort to provide better security services, win customers' satisfaction, and bring happiness to them all."
Adnan Ukasha, Jordanian, said he is a regular traveler through the RAK International Airport. "Long queues have become history with the new system which will give us a more convenient travel experience."
Sherif Al Wakeel, Egyptian, said the 'Smart Travel' system is so timely. "My six-member family will no long have a problem waiting to check in or out at the RAK International Airport with the new system."
