The horrifying crime was uncovered only after the two boys, aged one year and the other three months, developed poisoning symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea. Police said the housemaid, who worked for a UAE national family, committed the crime at the family house. She placed the milk bottles in the refrigerator for the children to drink in the evening.
The mother was not at home when the maid made the mixture. When the mother and the children returned home, the mother took the milk from the fridge and gave it to her boys. After sometime, the children started vomiting and had severe diarrhoea. The mother immediately rushed the children to hospital.
The milk was tested and it was confirmed that it contained washing powder chemicals. The mother accused the maid of intentionally mixing washing powder with the milk in order to take some `revenge' against the family. Investigations showed that the mother had refused to allow the maid to go out on that morning, and at the same time, allowed another maid working for the family to go for an outing.
Police interrogated the maid and said the case would now be referred to the prosecutor's office for charges to be filed against her.
