Today is the day when you will get to see the moon at its largest since 1948. Supermoon will be visible across the UAE from 5.52pm.
Supermoons are not a rare occurrence in itself, but don't miss this one, for the next extra large supermoon will be visible only in 2034.
If skies are clear, the upcoming full moon will appear up to 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than usual, making it what is called a supermoon, according to Nasa.

You can bask in the lunar glory across the country. If you are willing to go the extra mile, Dubai Astronomy Group is hosting an event Mushrif Park, Dubai, today between 7pm and 10pm. Telescopes are available for that extra special viewing.
Supermoons come to be because the moon rotates around the earth in an irregular orbit. Once the moon reaches a point in its orbit where it's located extremely close to Earth, a Supermoon is born.
