A manager is facing a forgery charge in court for allegedly forging three membership cards of a fitness club.

The 37-year-old, a Russian, is accused of changing the issuance and validity dates on the cards by covering the original dates with paper clippings, showing new dates. He also posted the personal photo of one of his friends on the cards.
The incident was reported to the Port police on June 17.

Apart from the forgery charge, the manager is also accused of putting the forged cards into circulation, by giving them to his friends to access the health club in Palm Jumeirah Island. He admitted to the charges in the Court of First Instance and claimed before the judge bench, that the club had dropped its accusations against him.

The club's Filipino security guard, 40, said he was on duty at around 7:00 pm at the club and the beach, which is usually visited by residents, when two men and a woman arrived.

"They produced three membership cards. I checked and found there was no registration for the membership cards they presented, in the club's records. I realised the cards were forged," he said during the investigation.
The guard informed his superior, who told him to call the police, who seized the cards and took the trio into police custody.

The three cards, which were proven to be forged by the Criminal Evidence Department, are being used as evidence in the case.
