The UAE's Ministry of Education has permitted some schools to offer remote learning today, January 6, 2023 due to unstable weather conditions.
Schools that offer the ministry's curriculum in Fujairah and the eastern region will be physically shut and operate remotely, Arabic daily Al Khaleej has reported.
Government schools and nurseries in the emirate have informed parents of the change though emails and WhatsApp messages. A circular sent by one of the schools — a copy of which Khaleej Times has seen — notes that the move is "for the safety of students in remote areas affected by the weather conditions".
The Ministry of Interior yesterday issued an alert warning residents of unstable weather conditions.
The authority asked residents to avoid running streams and ponds and informed motorists to reduce speed on roads. Residents have also been asked to stay away from beaches and the sea.
