Treasuring love for the past and paving path to future

He recalls with sheer joy the large numbers of tourists who flocked to visit this enchanting area during the national holiday.

Emirati national Khaled Abdullah Al Badwawi, owner of Alamaken Tourism and Travel Agency, has as much passion and attachment to his profession as he has for his land of ancestors. The proud local speaks enthusiastically of how he runs his business during weekdays and what special arrangements he takes during weekends and holiday seasons to meet the flow of tourists and visitors.
"It is amazing how tourists are keen on tasting and trying the local dishes. We have a variety of foods that is available. The tourists, however, go for the local menu. They like to order the homemade bread, harees, tannour (a grilled lamb)," said Al Badwawi.
He recalls with sheer joy the large numbers of tourists who flocked to visit this enchanting area during the UAE national holiday.
Khaled has been a tourist guide for three years and owns the tourism agency for the past five years. "It is a challenging and exciting profession. I like it as it allows me to meet new people. I get to know others of different nationalities and cultures."
Al Badwawi used to own a Hajj and Umrah company that organises pilgrims' trip. His courteous and friendly attitude has contributed to the flourishing of his business over the years.
"Tourists prefer walking and hiking over other sports activities here. Some of them would visit more than once in a year. They get surprised that we have local farms produce like bananas, strawberries and vegetables," he said.
Most groups consist of 25 people and there is a minimum of two visits per week. Usually, it is very busy over the weekend.
Even though his company has two branches in the UAE and one abroad, he is a pioneer in volunteering activities. He has been a loyal volunteer in the UAE Red Crescent and is also the security manager of the Hatta Football Club.
