In a smart move, the Dubai Police have announced that it would stop providing 15 services manually at six police stations across the emirate from the beginning of next year.
The move is aimed at reducing the number of persons visiting the service centres by 80 per cent by 2020, as per the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The customers who approach the stations for the services will be guided to go through the smart channels on the Dubai Police website or the Dubai Police app.
Major-General Dr Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, assistant commander-in-chief for Quality and Excellence, listed the services to be stopped. They are: Bounced cheque reports, lost items enquiry, found items enquiry, issuing report on accidents without injuries, accident report against unknown motorists, re-issuing accident report, lost document certificate, traffic fines payment, impounded vehicle enquiry, impounded vehicle fees payment, police clearance certificate, traffic clearance certificate details, to whom it may concern, night work permit and detainee visit request.
Maj-Gen Al Obaidly said that the services would be available in three stations - Al Qusais, Al Barsha and Ports Police Station.
Manual services will be stopped at Naif and Al Muraqqabat police stations from January 2, 2020. From January 15, Al Rafaa police station will stop providing these services while it would be stopped at the Jebel Ali police station on February 1, Al Rashidiya police station on February 15 and Bur Dubai Police Station on March 1.
In a long-term target, the Dubai Police aim at reducing the number of people visiting their centres for a service to zero, added Maj-Gen Al Obaidly. "However, those who visit the centres for the above mentioned services will be given proper guidance to make use of our smart channels including the Smart Police Stations." He added that customers can also avail of these services by dialling the non-emergency number 901.
"In addition to these, the services will be available at the drive-thru centres that provide services to motorists and the walk-in counters in the malls and tourist areas. People can also approach the three police stations that provide the services," said Maj-Gen Al Obaidly.
