Immediate financial assistance will be provided to the families of the plane crash victims, Air India Express has announced on Saturday.
As many as 18 people, including two pilots, were killed and several injured in the accident on Friday.
"To provide interim relief, Air India Express will provide Rs10,00,000 ((Dh48,946) to the next kin of the deceased passengers aged above 12 years; Rs500,000 (Dh24,473) to passengers below 12 years of age; Rs200,000 (Dh9,789) to critically injured passengers and Rs50,000 (Dh2,447) to passengers who are injured in the accident," the airline said in a statement.
"The airline is adequately insured and will pay compensation in accordance with applicable law at the appropriate juncture, it added.
"Air India Express has established passenger information centre and a toll-free number (1800222271) has been made available for family or friends of those who may have been on board flights IX-1344," read the statement.
Emergency response team members of Air India with Air India Express have already been sent to the accident scene, and all will render necessary help to assist the emergency services and local authorities to the passengers, the airline added.
