The Dubai Cares announced the its annual edition of its Walk for Education initiative will be held on February 14, 2020 at Dubai Creek Park.
The event encourages members of the UAE community to join together with family, friends, and colleagues to walk three kilometers (4,000 steps) in solidarity with millions of children and youths in developing countries who walk long distances simply to access their basic right to education.
The family-focused event will take place next to Al Garhoud Bridge, Gate 2 at Dubai Creek Park.
The participants can register online through 800Tickets or on the day, and are advised to arrive at 7:30am with the walk starting at 9am.
The registration amount of Dh35 paid by participants at the entrance is considered as a donation to Dubai Cares in support of its educational programs around the world, with entry being free of charge for children under five.

On the return the event, D Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, said: "The Walk for Education has been one of the most anticipated events in Dubai Cares' calendar, and this year is certainly no different. This symbolic walk has always seen the UAE's spirit of generosity shine brightly as families, friends and colleagues come together in solidarity with the millions of children and young people globally who embark on an arduous journey each day, simply to get to school. I'm thrilled to line up alongside many new and familiar faces this year, and I urge the UAE community to join us in helping make a lasting difference in the lives of millions of children and youth around the world."

Carnival-like experience for 2020

This year's walk will be co-hosted by Saif Abdulla and DJ Keza. The carnival-like experience will also feature a full program of entertainment, including live bands, parades, roaming performers, and a variety of pre- and post-event activities catered to families, children, friends and colleagues.

The roaming performers will raise the energy levels before the walk begins, and be found along the route to keep the carnival spirit flowing. Adding to the atmosphere will be Dubai Police band, Agha Khan Scouts and Guides band, Kharsha Drum.

Mouvement & Me will provide two obstacles games and four sets of stage engagement acts of 10 minutes each. Bounce will also provide their moveable trampoline along with Flying Elephant which will set up also carnival games, bouncy obstacle castles as well as face painters.

Meanwhile, face painting, hair braiding, carnival games, and sports activities are also part of the occasion, alongside other fun-filled activities including hula hoops, bouncy castles, and arts and crafts stations.

With a collection of giant colourful flags and other striking decorations reinforcing the carnival theme, participants can also indulge themselves in a collection of delicious food and beverage.

Rana Awad, Head of Community Engagement at Dubai Cares, added: "We cannot wait to welcome the UAE community to the annual Dubai Cares Walk for Education. This initiative is an opportunity for everyone to link arms in support of a great cause, and at the same time enjoy the many activities that we have planned for the day. This year, we return with a packed schedule of edutainment activities for the entire family to get involved in, so set your alarm for 7:00 AM on Friday 14 February and join us, so we can make a difference together!"
