Dubai Taxi limits number of students on school buses
Dubai - Daily temperature checks will be carried out before students board school buses in Dubai.
School buses in Dubai will have a limited number of students on board when they start bringing youngsters to campuses next week, authorities reiterated on Monday.
The Roads and Transport Authority's Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) will be capping school transport's passenger capacity at 50 per cent as part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Buses will be sanitised before and after each trip, and regular temperature checks will be done before students step inside.

Marwan Al Zarooni, director of operations and commercial affairs at the DTC, said: "The precautionary measures we have taken aimed to revive the confidence of parents in our handling of children who use our school transport services. The Dubai Taxi Corporation has taken extensive safety measures to protect students against the risks of catching Covid-19."
Around 18,600 students are registered on DTC's school transport service, and a fleet of more than 400 smart buses will be bringing them to schools, Al Zarooni added. About 21 schools in the emirate have also signed up with the DTC.
"The school buses are fitted with hi-tech devices for monitoring and tracking both buses and students, and accordingly improve the security and safety of the service. Devices include cameras; sensors to ensure no student is left behind on the bus; emergency button to communicate with the control centre; GPS-based electronic tracking system, radio-frequency identification (RFID) system; and engine self-extinguishing system. All these features have been selected to conform to the highest global safety standards," the DTC official said.
Over 400 drivers and 129 female attendants were trained for the smart bus service. Thy have also undergone workshops on handling emergencies and received first aid certifications from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.
To register for the service, or update their details, parents are advised to log in on the Dubai Taxi website (https://schoolbus.dubaitaxi.ae/parentportal), where they will also be guided on paying fees online.
"Through this portal, parents can track the movement of the bus and students, and figure out the pick-up and drop-off points. It also contains an indicator to measure the happiness and satisfaction of parents. The service supports DTC School Bus app available at Google Play and iOS Store, thus enabling the tracking of the movement of students by using smartphones," Al Zarooni said.
