With crowds of visitors expected at Gitex Global 2022 next week, the Dubai Police on Friday issued an advisory to guide residents and visitors on the best ways to get to the event.
Gitex — which is considered the world's biggest technology event — is set to take place from October 10 to 14 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Maj-Gen Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, assistant commander-in-chief for Operations Affairs and chairman of the International Events Security Committee, urged drivers to stick to speed limits, leave a safe distance between vehicles, give way to pedestrians, and use alternative routes to ensure optimal traffic flow during the event.
Additional parking options have also been set up for visitors, he added.
"They can now park their vehicles in the parking lots of Centrepoint Metro Station Parking, Etisalat Metro Station Parking, and Jebel Ali Metro Station Parking, and then use the Metro to reach the Dubai World Trade Centre station."
Visitors can also use the multi-storey parking building near Max Station in Al Kifaf area and then use Al Jafiliya metro station to reach the exhibition.
The Dubai Mall Zabeel Extension parking lot will also be available. From there, exclusively arranged shuttle buses will be picking up and dropping off visitors (from Dubai Mall parking to DWTC and back).
Those going to the exhibition by car are advised to follow traffic bulletins on social media so they can be updated about the latest road conditions. They can also activate the notification service on the Dubai Police App.
"For optimal and easier access, visitors are advised to use alternative roads to reach the Financial Centre area, such as Al Mustaqbal Street for those coming from Al Maydan Street, and Al Sukuk Street for those coming from Sheikh Zayed Road," Maj-Gen Al Ghaithi said.
