Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has rolled out six initiatives to ensure labour disputes in Dubai are settled in 10 days, instead of 30.
Mohammed Ahmed Mubarak Al Hammadi, Director of Labour Relations Department at MOHRE, said that six teams were formed to implement the initiatives according to the best practices in the settlement of labour disputes. "The initiatives will reduce the time of processing a labour dispute, starting with registering workers' complaints at the service centers to inspection and investigation. The initiatives also will help in resolving the dispute amicably without referring it to the judiciary."
Al Hammadi explained that the initiatives include the establishment of a "Green Room" in which the MOHRE would operate based on the mechanism of the Dubai Courts. The room will receive the warring parties and allow them to discuss their dispute in a calm atmosphere without the intervention of legal inspectors in MOHRE, he added.
He pointed out that a "Legal Advice Initiative" will also be undertaken which aims to educate workers about their rights and address their legal queries within a maximum of two working days.
Aisha Rashid Al Taniji, Deputy Head of the Second Batch Team and representative of workers in the government accelerator team, pointed out that the "Mobile Labour Court" - part of the initiatives launched - is a mobile unit activated by the team of inspectors of the Ministry in cooperation with specialists in the Dubai Courts for quick intervention and response to the workers' strike while selecting 10 workers to represent their colleagues to resolve their dispute in a timely manner.
