Dear Readers,

The world is today in the midst of an unprecedented situation, and we want you to stay safe. As the UAE pulls out all the stops to contain the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic and the associated Covid-19 illness, Khaleej Times is making the health and well-being of our subscribers, our employees and our stakeholders our No. 1 priority. Following concerns about health and safety precautions, the World Health Organization (WHO) has assured that it is safe to receive commercial goods and packages - even from countries impacted by the virus.

Out of an abundance of caution, nevertheless, KT has activated stricter sanitation, disinfection and sterilisation regimens across our newsgathering and dissemination functions. This addresses every element of the production chain, including printing presses, delivery vehicles, and premises - right down to our personal workspaces. We have reexamined our doorstep delivery operations and generously added supplementary hygiene measures, like increasing the frequency of disinfecting our printing presses, delivery vans and bikes; sanitiser bags and gloves for delivery executives; and polybags for the newspaper.

All our staff and contractors have been asked to take the necessary precautions and follow the recommended advisories, including practising social distancing, working from home as much as possible, maintaining strict personal hygiene and disinfecting our immediate environment. Life as we know it has undergone a huge transformation in a matter of weeks. Over the next few days and weeks, we will, following the guidance of local and international authorities, continue to tweak our offerings to bring you credible news and information that is critical during such times.

It is our appeal to you to follow the government's advisory and #StayHome for the sake of emergency, healthcare and other professionals who can't. We appreciate your commitment to KT and our journalism that aims to inform, entertain, engage and inspire. Following the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness to participate in the drive to keep the UAE safe and healthy, we at KT can assert with reasonable confidence that your favourite newspaper will continue to spread facts, not fear; and pass on only news and knowledge, not germs.
