The Dubai Media Office posted a photo of meeting and tweeted: "#UAE leaders lead by example and avoid handshakes, following the precautionary advice from health authorities recommended for all."
Arabs traditionally greet one another with handshakes, hugs and nose-to-nose kisses. But health authorities had urged people to avoid such people-to-people physical contact to stop the spread of the coronavirus. An advisory issued by the Ministry of Health and Prevention advises residents to wave to each other.
The gesture has won praise from Netizens, with many hailing the leaders for setting a great example.
During the meeting, the two leaders affirmed that all resources had been mobilised to fight Covid-19.
