With ease in restriction of movement in the UAE, commercial entities have increased precautionary measures at their facilities to contain the spread of Covid-19. Hypermarkets, pharmacies and clinics have installed anti-microbial protective shields at cash counters.
Jose Sreedharan, COO, Aster Pharmacy, said all pharmacies in the UAE are now fitted with shields to prevent transmission of virus between staff and customers.
"All our staff wears gloves, masks and gown as a protective measure. However, an additional protection is in the best interest of both parties. So, we have such protective shields, which will prevent passage of virus if a person coughs or sneezes. This can be from our staff to customer or vice versa. So, this shield is an additional barrier," Sreedharan said.
Nilesh Jain, founder of Just Right FZCO, which rolled out UAE-made acrylic sheets, said such shields can play a crucial role in containing the spread of virus.
