Eid Al Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice or the Greater Eid is marked from 10 to 13 of Dhul Hijjah, which is the last month of the Islamic calendar. It also marks the end of Haj, the annual pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah. This is that time of the year when the Holy City of Makkah is packed with almost more than a million Muslims from across the world, who have come to perform the annual pilgrimage Haj that will conclude on today with the celebration of Eid Al Adha. Pilgrims are expected to perform two rituals. The first is a lesser pilgrimage known as Umrah, or a journey to Makkah at any time of the year. The second is the main pilgrimage, known as Haj. During both these acts of worship, pilgrims circle the Kaaba, a shrine built by Ibrahim and they pray to Allah.
Imam Mohammed Al Hasan Khan said: "The pilgrimage started on 8th of Dhul Hijjah (Saturday), 9th (Sunday) the hajis mount Arafah and seek forgiveness, and those who are not performing Haj, can fast and seek for forgiveness the same day. On the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the hajis offer their sacrifices, and those not on the pilgrimage also start our sacrifices on this day. The hajis can complete their Hajj by 13th of the month and similarly we can offer our sacrifices untill 13th of Dhul Hijjah."
Eid Al Adha therefore symbolises our willingness to give up some of our loved possessions in order to strengthen ties of friendship and help those in need. It is a reminder that be grateful to God, open up your hearts and share with others what you are blessed with.

 Prescribed acts during Eid:
> Take a bath and wear your best clothes and a pleasing fragrance.
> Go early for Eid prayer and keep reciting Takbeer (praising Allah).
> Change routes while going and coming back from the Eid prayer
> Meet and greet others
> Sacrifice an animal that is affordable and eat one-third from it, distribute one-third among family and friends and give away one-third in charity.
> Enjoy Eid by doing permissible leisure activities such as taking your family for a trip, exchange of gifts, making food and inviting one another.
