Air Arabia will repatriate the second batch of 102 UAE nationals from two cities in India to Sharjah on April 22. The Sharjah-based airline had successfully repatriated first batch of 38 Emiratis on Monday, the UAE Embassy in New Delhi said.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the UAE Embassy in New Delhi coordinated with the UAE consulates in Mumbai and Kerala to develop an evacuation plan to fly out 140 UAE nationals in two batches.
"On Monday, first batch of 38 Emiratis from New Delhi, Mumbai and other cities were evacuated. All preventive measures were taken at Sharjah Airport to ensure health and safety of the passengers. Preparations are going on to repatriate the second group of 23 nationals present in and around Kerala and 79 nationals in the city of Hyderabad and its nearby areas."
Dr Ahmed Al Banna, the UAE Ambassador to India, lauded the cooperation of Indian authorities in facilitating evacuation plan of the nationals, despite suspension of international flights. "Strong bilateral relations between the two countries contributed in uniting efforts during crisis to fight Covid-19," the mission added.
Air Arabia remained committed to bringing stranded nationals back home as well as supporting requests to operate repatriation flights and is working closely with UAE authorities in this regard. The airline earlier announced that it's operating a mix of repatriation flights as well as cargo flights to multiple destinations this month.
