This unprecedented move allows guests more time to enjoy the diverse entertainment, cultural experiences, and shopping delights
The movement restrictions in Abu Dhabi were first introduced on June 2 to ensure mass Covid-19 testing in order to contain the spread of the virus. Authorities announced that, during the past two weeks, more than 388,000 residents of the emirate were tested for the coronavirus.
On Monday evening, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) decided to extend the ban for another seven days.
The ban covers movements between Abu Dhabi's regions (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafrah) as well as in and out of the emirate. It applies to all Abu Dhabi residents, including UAE Nationals.
Exemptions are available by special permit for employees in vital sectors, patients with chronic diseases who have to visit hospitals and the transportation of necessary goods. Movement within each region is allowed in line with National Sterilisation Programme hours.
