Al Dhaid Municipality seizes 1,000kg of pan

The municipality received a tip off about the illegal activities and immediately formed teams who raided the house which belong to the same Asian who sells pan from his shop located on the Al Dhaid- Fujairah road.

Al Dhaid Municipality has seized 1000 kg of pan from a grocery and a house owned by an Asian in Al Dhaid area. The consumption of pan is banned in the UAE.
The municipality received a tip off about the illegal activities and immediately formed teams who raided the house which belong to the same Asian who sells pan from his shop located on the Al Dhaid- Fujairah road.
 The pan and several kinds of anti-narcotic substances were being made in the house where the municipality team in coordination with police managed to confiscate 2,901 bags of bags of pan, weighing 55kg. They also found 990kg of raw pan which was kept ready for processing.
Speaking to Khaleej Time, Salem Saeed Al Tunaiji, the Head of Municipality Operations Department explained that pan is abused by Asians and that it is made by blending a mixture of natural and chemical materials. He added that its effect is similar to the effect of Qat and that both pose a threat to the safety of society and the user.
 The owner of the shop and house was held by police and referred to public prosecution.
