A four-member gang of Asians trying to sell 573,000 captagon pills across the country was nabbed by the Abu Dhabi Police. The narcotics were immediately seized.
The arrests were carried out as part of the operation codenamed 'Watching Eyes', said Colonel Taher Gharib Al Dhaheri, director of the anti-narcotics directorate in the criminal security sector.
Acting on a tip-off that a gang was planning to distribute a large amount of narcotic substances, the police swung into action and arrested all the gang members red-handed with the pills. They have been referred to the judicial authorities.
The gang was being run by a person from outside the UAE, the police said.
