Ibrahim Sarhan Al Hamoudi, Acting Executive Director of the Surface Transport Sector at Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi, said during a session organized by the department that any unpaid toll will be charged at the time of renewing the vehicle's registration. He reiterated that all of vehicles licenced in Abu Dhabi would be automatically registered in the new system.
The Abu Dhabi toll system will be active from October 15, 2019, and the website for registration of vehicles was made live a few days ago.
On the website's homepage, users will need to enter basic details like Emirates ID, licence plate number, source, colour and kind along with email address and mobile phone number. Once submitted, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile phone. When the motorist enters the password, a list of all vehicles registered under his/her name pops up. An amount of Dh100 is to be paid to register each vehicle. Out of the Dh100 fee, Dh50 is the registration fee and the rest can be used to pay for the tolls.
