The Dubai Metro, the world's longest driverless metro system, connects the emirate's major districts, and is a lifeline for millions of commuters everyday.
With so many people taking the Metro daily, it's no secret that one can encounter different people with different attitudes on their daily commute. These people can either make our trip all the more interesting, or one big hassle. Here are 6 people you don't want to be in the Dubai Metro. Read on. You might be one of them.

The Gatekeeper

Unlike traditional gatekeepers, they won't open the door for you. What they really do is bar your way in AND out of the train.

The Battering Ram

The adversary of the gatekeepers, these passengers are ubiquitous during rush hour and are known to push their way to get inside the train - they're quite effective in numbers by the way.

The Luggage

Imagine that you're bringing a huge bag with you as you take the train. Maybe you came from the gym, or the airport. One of your first thoughts would be to put it in the Metro's dedicated luggage area. But soon as you make your way through it, you see a bunch of people standing inside said luggage area. Oh, and little fact, they can get fined for it.

The Gamer

You see them slouched over staring at their screens, busy playing Mobile Legends or some other popular game on smartphones. Headphones for the sake of other passengers may or may not be included.

The Rockstar

You can either enjoy their taste in music or question it. Why? Because they have their earphones on full blast to the point that you can hear the lyrics. In some cases, they can also play some air guitar or show everyone their 'UAE's Got Talent' level of singing.

The Hauler

Remember the Luggage? This is the poor guy that they don't like. If he doesn't get the luggage space (which he legally and technically must). He's resigned to put his haul beside him or between his legs - to everyone's inconvenience.

The Tourist

In a crowded train, they will desperately fling out their phones or cameras- inconveniencing others - to take the perfect #mydubai Instagram shot. These types of passengers are most commonly found at Burj Khalifa Metro Station.

The Caller

This type of passenger knows that the Metro is loud and can affect how the other person on the line is hearing him. So, he also speaks loudly - 'HELLO AHMED, I AM ON MY WAY TO KARAMA I AM IN JAFILIYA METRO STATION ALREADY.' No, you're not because the train is still on its way to Financial Centre.

The Ninja

You're tired out of your wits after work and you would like to sit down on the train. But it's full. At the next stop, someone stands up and now there's a vacant seat. In a blink of an eye, someone is already seated in that spot you're eyeing. You have just encountered one of Dubai Metro's many ninjas.
